A Reflection-Type Phase Shifter Using a Simplified Magic-T with a Delay Line

In this paper, we design a simplified model of a reflection-type phase shifter (RTPS) using the magic-T proposed in previous study. The proposed magic-T aims to achieve a compact, wideband RTPS with low insertion loss. The magic-T satisfying these criteria is designed, combined with a ring-type T-divider transitioning from microstrip to coplanar strips (CPS). A RTPS is designed using this magic-T. The RTPS makes a 90° phase difference in the two arms. In this paper, to simplify the design, this section is implemented using a λ/4 delay line. The bandwidth of the RTPS is 45%, with S11 less than -10 dB, and the phase shift is 122.3°. The RTPS is used a dipole array antenna. The bandwidth of the proposed array antenna is about 20%, with S11 less than -10 dB, and the phase shift is 38°.
