Abstract

This paper proposes optimal design formulas and the optimal design method of viscous damping and spring stiffness parallel type (M-CK type) tuned dynamic mass system that based on the fixed point theory and the complex eigenvalue problem. We show optimal design formulas and the optimal design method that can be applied to a multi-DOF system model. In addition, we verify the effectiveness of higher modes control by vibration testing of a multi-DOF system model using the M-CK type. Furthermore, we show a design example of a full-scale building and aim to establish an efficient response control structure.
