Abstract

Patch antennas have been drawn rich attention in wireless system because of their low-profile structure, low cost and ease of manufacture. This paper proposes a broadband and compact antenna using metasurface. The metasurface consists of an array of rectangular metal patches. The conventional antenna has bandwidth of \vert \mathrm{S}11\vert<-10 dB of 2.5%, while the proposed antenna has that of 11.8%. In addition, the gaps must be set so that the metasurface is not equally spaced when they are arrayed.
