Abstract

This paper proposes an antenna system for straightforward and accurate angle-of-arrival (AoA) estimation. The proposed system applies power-based direction finding using a null-steering antenna to enhance simplicity and accuracy in determining AoA. The accuracy enhancement is achieved by the antenna that scans a deep null over-30 dB. Furthermore, the estimation accuracy in the system is evaluated by triangulation. The result reveals that the conventional antenna array produces a maximum estimation error of 8.0 m due to shallow null depths, while the proposed one significantly reduces it to 0.5 m.
