N2 - This paper presents an antenna design for electronically steering monopulse beams at wide angles. Unlike conventional monopulse antennas, the proposed one employs the inner two antennas to steer a deep null, while other antennas are used to produce a directive beam. The modification offers high efficiency and wide-angle monopulse scanning without ambiguities, which is suitable for indoor localization. The proposed antenna has the reflection coefficients of Σ and Δ ports better than −10 dB in 22% fractional bandwidth. The Σ and Δ patterns have a beam width and sharp angular resolution of 25° and 1° at 4.9 GHz, respectively, offering accurate direction-finding.
